My oldest boy is showing interest in joining cub scouts at 5 years old. I've read that the Boy Scouts have gone "woke" on basically all fronts. Has anyone seen where this has bled into the Cub Scouts group? Thankfully, we're pretty well protected from alot of that junk in central ND, but I'm seeing it popping up more and more.
Anyone here have any experience with the Cub Scouts group?

I was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader for many years. My son is an Eagle Scout. If' you plan to be a big part of Scouts, your son will get lot's out of it and so will you. You can also make a difference in other boys lives that are in need of a good role model.

I went Tiger to Eagle
then was a Den leader for my son tiger through webelos , and then a leader in boys Scouts for a few years my son left scouts at first class in about 2015 the local group was falling apart some having real issues getting leaders and volunteers
It has EVERYTHING to do with what you and your local leaders make it and the support you get from your charter organization.
I was running the 4-H shooting sports and my wife told me I couldn't do both. I had to choose
Scouts was gutting their shooting program at the time , and we could to almost anything in 4-H shooting sports I just had to present it the right way keep it safe and find the leaders to staff it and no shooting targets that look like people.
if you are asking yourself if Cub scouts is some how a different organization than Boy scouts/BSA/Scouts no absolutely the same senior leadership cubs is just geared for grade school kids.

My wife and I made the decision to keep our son from joining Cub Scouts. Like was said earlier, our support of the local chapter would roll up to supporting the main organization's platform, which we don't have any interest in.

it was a good program that tied age appropriate learning about US and world citizenship , first aid and other life skills to rank advancement.
The curriculum was good , some of my kids Zipped through it rather fast but the same ones zipping through it fast like that were top of their class in everything they did all the way through school also.
unfortunately the program nationally suffered significantly from abuse by a few and with mismanagement it cost everyone what was an excellent program.
there are still good strong troops and packs today. it really comes down to what your local leadership puts into it.
you might also look into 4-H I don't know about ND 4-H but WI 4-H is very good and again what you make it at the local level.

Not just with Scouts but with Actors, Singers, etc. If you support them, then you are supporting their agenda, ideology. Without support, it's hard to thrive. Food for thought...
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Around here it's still a good program. I believe the local leaders pushed back when they were told to allow girls to join if they wanted.
Bought some overpriced popcorn the other day from the neighbor kid. Little bugger pulling a wagon with his uniform on. Talked to him for 10 minutes about scouts. it has everything to do with the charter organization. the charter can opt to have a separate girls only troop or be co-ed BSA national screwed up big time in handling issues , like the catholic church choose to hide it and it has gutted parts of the program.
