Yes does are the best attractant you can have . Real life decoys too. Good luck ! Still trying to make their hunt happen during modern gun. Other party isn't hunting there right now because no big bucks on cam !!! KY youth is the 2nd weekend in OCT. I have been renting a cabin and taking them to BiG rivers fwa and been successful but last year it was very crowded with lots of kids which I like to see them out but one particular area was so covered up it looked like it was dangerous so we went to another location not as hot but no other people. and its an expensive trip. May not make it down there this year for youth deer. But I do have. The vacation scheduled time so I may take them anyway. X bow hunt them before you weekend prehaps.

Make since jbyrd63.
We went to the 20k acre state forest this evening my 12 year old shot a med size doe. It was thick and he only could get 7 feet off the ground and see anything but that was enough to be better than on the ground. He shot through an 8" opening about 30 yard hit just above heart height right behind the shoulder. But the deer was angling to so it stoped under the skin in the middle of the gut . Busted enough to smell bit not to bad. . Shot it with a single shot handy in 357mag because of our public land cal restrictions. No blood at the shot no blood at all in the direction he said it went. I figured we may not find It it was getting dark fast. I started circling about gave up on that walker the direction he said it went and finally decided to turn on a head light it was almost dark enough to need it. Bingo at my foot was a single drop of blood and I was 50 yard from the shot location. It was slow going a speck or drop at a time for 30 yards or so then it opend up and was easier to follow yet still tough due to how thick it was.
She was full of milk and he didn't see any other deer tell 5 minutes after the shot. But I walked up to him and ran them off before he could get a clear shot at them. I didn't see him waving me off to stop me.
So one down and in the cooler so far, he got to recover and keep what was left of that Hornaday mushroom 158gr xtp, he is 12 for 12 at 12 now. I'm hoping they each shoot 3 or 4 this season. If they don't I may go during late season. We easly go through 7 a year. Could use double that especially if I start making jerky and summer sausage.
Probably won't take them in the morning since it's 1:55 AM and I'm still up. The boys were up tell after 12. Probably should go to church instead anyway. The dogs sure were happy with their deer treats.

Providence Farm,
Congrats to your son on the doe!
Kudos to you for taking them hunting!!!! Thanks , taking them hunting is about the only thing I do all year for fun for me. All my vacation is scheduled for indiana and ky youth and firearm and black powder season to take them.. las year they started getting burnt out with one or the other deciding to stay home sometimes... I feel dirty not taking them this morning. My 12 year old is up on his own. I could have taken them at the farm and avoided wasting time on the long drive to state land and bucks are moving I saw a good one on my 2nd run to get more ice after the boys went to bed about 1230 am. Would have only ment getting going an hour earlier than now. They would not have gotten much less sleep anyway. Inwast up tel 230 but I'm used to around 4 hrs of sleep.

Post some pics of these hunters !! Hope it works out second week in November I’d love to meet them !! I never got a picture host so don't post pictures. Honestly I only got two shots of this one in the gas station poorly lit parking lot where I stoped for ice to pack into its chest for the hour ride home. Was in such a hurry to get it in the cooler when I got home I forgot to get more. I could make a heck of a book with their trapping, hunting, bee keeping, gardening, butching stock and maple taping heck they have been helping my wife can also. I wish I had their skills and knowledge when I was 20 let alone t 10 and 12.
