I have cherry wood cabinets in the house. I've loved that stuff since junior high shop class. Too bad it does grow anywhere near here...

Yes, I also have Black Cherry kitchen cabinets built from the trees I cut. Too bad Black Cherry is a deadbeat on the hardwood lumber market, it used to be one of the most valuable northern hardwood species. Today, mills are sawing into Pallet stock, railroad ties and crane mat timbers.
How do you like the Norwood mill ?
Just sold a 22" cherry to a wood worker for $75. A few years ago, same log $200.

I have some black cherry on my property. They seem almost like a weed on my property. I've known since woodworking class that cherry is a premier wood. Maybe my black cherry are just not liking the soil. I'm thinking of cutting some down to encourage more oaks

Nice looking log !!! I've got a bunch of cherry on my place. Shame the price is down. This log needed to go a couple years ago. So I sectioned it into three 8 footers and had a guy saw it 12/4". Made 7 live edge planks from 11"-17" wide. Should make some nice projects for someone...........bar.....bench......counter........mantle..........
