I have read all of these replies and they're all very good, I understand that I'm young and can do all this stuff without financial burden. The problem is that most of you have explained that you guys had time after school to do stuff, my problem is that I don't have that time most of the week.

You’re on here plenty talking about trapping, conventions, hunting, trucks, scouting etc...you likely have more free time now than you will have for most of your adult life. Enjoy it, it really is the easiest time of your life.

I went enough to pass and stay out of trouble. The rest of the time I worked or was in the woods.

school sucked, father beat me for low grades. Back then no one interfered in that type stuff.

Sounds like whining to me. You don’t have it any worse than anyone else on here, except we just did the work. A lot of my homework was done in study hall or on the bus ride home. The way the bus route was I could get dropped off at the beginning of my road and run home and be finishing homework before the bus even came by. Not to even mention chores that needed done after homework. Then ball practice after that. Apparently you need to do some research on time management. If the desire is there, you’ll find the time to get homework and whatever else needs done in order to have fun afterwards.
When we trapped, we’d run the line before school and skin at night. Even now as a adult I run mornings before work and reset after work. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Wanna Be, I’m glad you reminded me of that. My mother wouldn’t let me ride my bicycle in the dark so she would drive me to check my morning traps, then after school I would bike to the rest.

Join the military. Then you don't have to worry about managing your time. They will do it for you. They feed you, put a roof over your head ( sometimes), good health insurance, send you to exercise lessons, and will pay for a lot of your schooling when you get out. As long as you can put one foot in front of the other you'll be golden! It's like the recruiter told me. " you like camping, hiking, and hunting? You'll love the infantry!"

Time management appears to be your problem. You say you are on the phone at lunch "to kill time". Why aren't you doing that homework you're complaining about? I've noticed you joined this site in June and have 500 posts. That requires "time".
Perhaps a little less time on the internet will give you more time to do the things you want to do.

You have to decide what your priorities are, not just now, but the rest of your life. Got any goals? Or just dreams? Make a plan to manage your time, set some goals, follow the plan. That's how things get done.

Hey man, I put it at the start that there was going to be a rant, don't come in here and complain that it's whining when you had the option to read the thread or not. I do as much homework as possible in a 40-minute study hall, I don't ride the bus home and never have as I live in town very near to the school. I don't do sports and very rarely do extracurricular activities but maybe signing up for FFA but that's a whole different conversation. I don't have the time in the morning to run my line, especially a water line before school since I get up at 6:30 to get ready for school and am out the door by 7:40. I have no option except to run it after school and skin whenever I have time. Thanks for the reply but don't start off with "Sounds like whining to me" when you had the option to write in the thread or not, especially when I gave a warning. I respect you and everyone on this forum but if you have the option to be positive, then be positive.

No interest in the military since it's just not my cup of tea. For some it is and that's great for them but I have different dreams.

I bring my lunch to school since I'm lactose intolerant and can't have most of the food they serve. We're not allowed to leave the lunch room to grab our backpacks which contains my homework. I was also in summer break from June until half way through August and I had lots of questions to ask then. I also usually respond to every reply so that the person who wrote it sees that I saw it and doesn't feel like it was a waste of time.

To answer what my goals and dreams are, I would love to become a state trapper once I'm old enough to.

Just do what you want and what you like.
If you dont like homework or dont want to do it-dont do it.

Lots of people waste their whole life doing stuff they hate.

Dont be one of those losers.

If you do something you like you will be very successful in life.

You are young it might take a while before you find out what you really like to do and work at it.

Boco, I wish it was that easy, if it was I would be working on learning a trade. I have gotten myself so obsessed with A's and high grades that I can't do anything below it now. Thanks for giving me advice. I respect you very much for that even if my respect doesn't mean much.

FWIW, your high school years are NOT the "best years of your life".
I feel sorry for those folks who's experience that is.

You can only set as many traps you can comfortably handle. Dreaming of laying out all your traps ain’t happening. So just get 2-3 coon set..throw in a couple mink sets...3-4 rat sets ....and just check those. Don’t forget ,remakes take time if yah catch something. Just enough to scratch that itch...and have fun doing it
