If it’s anything like the k9 extreme it should be a beast of a trap ! I’m probably going to have a chance at
A big cat this year. Planing on using my 4 coiled extremes.

The no BS Wolf Extremes are built like a tank and fast. I use them mainly in the snow as they come up through quite a bit better than say a 750. Any wolf I’ve had step on one has been caught and deep is an understatement. Since they are used in the winter, I haven’t ever had a bear in one. But…I know the wolf Jr’s will for sure hold a bear. I’ve caught 2 in the last week! One was on a drag and hooked up within about 20 feet. The other anchored with a chained super stake about 24” deep.

One thing to note though. I hope I don’t catch a lion or bear in the extremes, I don’t think I could pop the trap off without setters. The Jr’s I can.

Well, the no bs wolf traps are beefed up TS-85's.
The canine extremes are a custom built trap, by Kendal.
The extremes are indeed amazing. A few years ago, he built a couple dozen for myself and my trapping partner that were custom, with closed jaws, specifically for wolverine.
They not only exceeded our hopes on wolverine, but definitely will hold wolves, as well.
Not saying they are a wolf trap, by any means, but just testimony to what he builds.

Just doing what I want now.

The NO BS Wolf Extremes are a dandy trap. They are basically a beefed up TS-85, and I mod my own TS-85s for considerably less money, but a fair amount of work involved, depends on what your time is worth to you. But the Wolf Extremes have much stouter jaws than the TS-85s, they are stouter than the ones I laminate, except a couple that I laminated clear to the hinges instead of just across the top. I like the narrower jaw sides on the ones I didn't laminate down the sides better for coming up through frozen crust, but it is the weak point of those traps.

Hope you have a pair of setters, you can set one of those traps without them, but it gets old real fast! And releasing a nontarget without setters would not be fun. Watch where you set them, they will hold hooved critters!

What is the average = lbs drag a guy from Idaho uses for wolf? IF you had say = 2o ft of chain. Is a Saber Tooth drag at about 3 lbs enough?? What should be used ?

Yeah with 20 feet of chain it would work good. Of course it depends on where you are trapping, most of my trapping is done in timbered brushy country and they aren't going far without tangling up. Several guys are running Jumpers drags I believe, some are making their own to varying designs but usually larger than you can buy commercially, but I know several are using either MB or Sabertooth drags, usually with longer than the traditional 8-10' of chain. If you've got long enough chain it is going to hang up pretty fast if there is much brush at all. You will always have the exception that takes off running down a road, but usually they will hang up pretty fast if you have enough chain.

Although releasing a bear by yourself on 20 feet of chain could be interesting... especially if he decided to climb a tree.

Mine weigh with chain about what Jumpers weigh without.
