Anyone got experience with this ? Me and the gf went to bas pro so she could feel on a bunch and she really liked the Ruger Max 9 they had on display. Price, fit, caliber and all she likes ( spent probably 20min talking to the guy at the counter about it how she'd carry and what not) but she wanted me to ask y'all if any of you have messed with it . So opinions ?

I don't own one
one of my sons freinds ran one in a USPSA shoot this last winter his only handgun

they work

it is basically the LC9s-2-XL that they never made in that name

I have run an LC9 as a carry gun for 11 years

think about it Sig has the 365xl same top end but larger capacity bottom end

or a G43x MOS

this is basically a scaled up grip and capacity to fit that spot in the market without just using the same top end on a different frame

it seems to be a decent self defense gun in that size , my only complaint is the Mag disconnect meaning if there isn't a magazine in it you can't pull the trigger

I haven't looked close enough to see if the Mag disconnect is the same as the LC9 , it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same why re-invent the wheel

if it is the same it can be removed they just won't tell you how , but there are videos.

the issue with a Mag disconnect is
A you can't ever trust it does work

B you might want to be able to fire a round with out the mag , some competitions require it you drop your mag fire the round in the chamber on a last target before holstering making a run to a different bay to reload and engage more targets

C if you have to unload , show clear , then pull the trigger at the backstop to verify clear , you have to re-insert a magazine there is apparently a orange plastic mag for this purpose now to use when clearing the gun

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Thanks for the insightful break down as usual! Doubt we will ever run any competition so recon we're good on that one

it can be an issue with dry fire training also

you just need to know the issues with it , you generally do dry fire with NO ammo or Magazines around , but if you have to have a magazine to dry fire you need to make sure it is actually unloaded.

sounds "simple" but make sure and definitely dry fire train in a safe direction

never trust safeties or that the gun is unloaded , fully , ever

here is a good look at them both

also they have the PRO version of both , I knew they had the Pro version of the LC9s that was the gun I wanted in 2011 when I bought my LC9 it took ehtem till 2014 to make the LC9s-pro without the safety or the mag disconnect

I trained around the safety and the mag disconnect , which is also now deleted from mine

I already had the LC9 and an extra as an investment so I didn't buy the pro
