What eludes me is why anyone would give a bill of sale for something like a used gun. There is no purpose for it . I can not think of one upside for either buyer or seller. Maybe WF can shed some lite on it for me.

I think many people think there is a good and well updated list of stolen guns.

that if you buy a gun and take it in for work or something it will be searched and come back stolen and people want a Receipt to be able to say no I didn't steal this I got it from Joe here is his info go find him.

unfortunately there is not a very good list and if you report your gun stolen you need to keep signing an affidavit that it was not found or returned every 6 months to keep it on the list.

IF your LE agency doesn't keep bringing you back a form to sign every 6 months then it spend 6 months on the list

again tv and movies give a unreal idea of what is.

In wa state every firearm has to go thru an ffl but I'm sure were not being tracked or on a list!
