The U.S. fed government's debt is 130% of annual GDP. Soon to be a trillion fiat coins just for the interest alone for all the T-bills out there. It will enter the "doom loop" by sometime next year, if not sooner. The government's ability to pay for much will turn turtle for good without a "reset". No financial viagra out there that will stop clown world on its continuing road towards economic ruin..

Raising interest rates to slow inflation raises the cost of borrowed money so that means a lot more of the federal budget needs to go to pay the interest on the national debt. When those rates are higher the T-bills will be more attractive which means if politicians choose to continue to go into further debt there will be buyers for the debt.
The debt forgiveness for college loans in and of itself is to me not the big issue when we look at all the deficit spending we have and have had for decades. The principle of not having to pay for costs we have chosen is to me the big issue and we have had thousands of situations over time that did just that. Deficit creation or spending is not a single party problem it is a political system problem where money drives how we choose to set policy.

I paid my wife's off when we got married. I didn't have any of my own. I worked my way through scrimping and clawing. Now I get to pay for everyone else's kids. What fun.

This! On daughter number five of paying cash for their college so they are debt free going into the work force. Also, paid cash for my Associates degree. Have heard the BS line that if you can afford to pay for it then you should have too one to many times. Wife and I work our tails off and have no toys. Also, made the girls work when off from school. To their credit they recognize the cost and worked hard in high school and got a few scholarships because of their performance. Also, they took as many college classes in high school as could. Third oldest was the first in the history of her school to graduate high school with an Associates degree. Bottom line college is a privilege that comes with discipline and great cost not an entitlement. But not, to some, in this country! These days.

Democrats have been buying vote for a long time , republicans have also.
But this administration has taken it and made it public , and they're laughing at everyone for going along with it.
We've been taken over , the younger population have no idea what they're doing.

News says most of the tuition debt being paid off is on individual loans 20K and less. Good grief, if you are a young man or woman freshly graduated and can't pay 20K in debt over 3-5 years like all the rest of us did, then God help this country!

Well, there was a little thing called the American Revolution to pay off or do you think that gun powder and salted pork and flour were free for the taking...?
