Noticed for awhile that some trapping supplies don’t have some styles of Victor Traps in stock. Has anybody heard anything.

I've been wondering for sometime if they went out of business.Nobody's seem to notice

They've been rather absent from conventions

I actually just had a meeting with our steel vendor at work and she mentioned prices are coming down.

Wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, just always noticed they are out of stock on several of the trapping supply websites I frequent.

It's the same outfit that owns BMI . I'd be surprised if we ever see them made again.

Sadly that’s what my thoughts are also, just didn’t want to say it out loud or seem negative.

Well, their website no longer seems to function and when it did they never answered the phone or returned emails regarding purchasing traps they offered. Not a good way to run a business.

Last I spoke with them, a few years ago, they didn't seem enthused. BMI slowly went down to nothing but I noticed places in Europe were selling the BMI 110's for squirrel nuisance trapping. So maybe BMI is selling only to them, IDK.

As far as Victor goes, I sure hope they start up again or maybe sell that part of the Company to someone. It would be a bummer to lose a US made trap Co.

Make traps again and raise prices accordingly.

You can’t manufacture if your product has no market

BMI body grippers are awesome and they sold well. They just seemed like they didn't care to make them anymore. Either they are financially set or my theory about them selling them across the pond only, is correct.

As far as Victor goes, they probably did take a hit with the cheaper Duke's. Also I'm sure the rising cost to manufacture is in play too. What I don't understand is why they have conducted business like they have. They sure didn't communicate well with the trapping community. Wish I had gotten more BMI 110's!

How many traps from all manufacturers will sell this year

IDK Danny. With the fur market the way it is, I'm sure sales are down but there seems to be some newbies out there that are buying some. Most of us older ones have what we need although I would snag a few dozen BMI 110's and some 120's if they were available.

I don't have a problem with Victor if they are taking a manufacturing hiatus due to cost and low sales. My issue with them is how they lack in common courtesy with the trapping community. I haven't seen where other trap companies are coming to a halt, have you?

They didn't own BMI. Victor just permitted BMI to make traps in Victor's factory. The owners of both are related.

Northern says they have stock

Last I spoke to anyone associated with Victor was at the nta in Springfield a few yrs ago

You can't market and sell a product if you don't manufacture it.

It was said it's a brother sister business - supposedly the brother runs victor and the sister runs BMI. Don't know if that's 100% true , but that's the story. All I know is I would like to see them both manufacture traps again and put a little more effort to answering phones and inquiries.

I believe they still make mouse traps/ barn rat traps.

I have a hunch you will never see Victor traps again (at least produced by the current owners). Let’s hope if someone else buys the company they have a respect for the history of the industry.
