Anyone got a quick easy method of crushing apples for making juice/ or cider /or hard cider?
I've about 1/2 bushel of smaller apples that I don't feel like peeling for dehydrating or frozen for pies
I've a juicer but need to crush to juice. Pictures would be helpful.

Run them through a meat grinder, did that for a neighbor for a number of years. Best to cut apples in half, grind skin, seeds, and cores, strain through cheesecloth.

Freeze the apples first, then thaw them completely before juicing them. You won't have to crush them and the flavor won't change.

The most famous cidermill in America in good ole Endicott, NY used to have a manual one on display. You have to cut the apples in half, you use plywood the thickest you can afford and start stacking. If you have a shop press that uses a bottlejack you can use that. You can also use a long corkscrew if you have one of those. 2x8 I believe on top to spread the load.

I've been toying with the idea of trying a small wood chipper, haven't found one cheap enough yet.

My cider press made around 1900 has a grinder side and a press side. Two tubs. Grind, press, and keep going.

Lehman hardware sells an apple grinder.

Or my press is for sale if you are interested.

I've a Juicy Juice 3 gallon press that I got at a yard sale for a song. Its surely an antique.
All iron except the seive which I didn't notice was rusted beyond use.
So I made my own from a 5 gallon plastic bucket.
Dunno if it works good enough yet. Haven't time right now.
Apples are quartered in the freezer.
Dunno if thats gonna be enough prep to juice so we'll just have to give it a try sometime
