That’s most of the nicest deer dating back to the 1950’s
Old farm house built around 1930.

The one photo is shirt tails. If we think some one shot but did not bring in a kill, we hold court.
If found guilty by the jury the camp captain/ Judge. Cuts off your shirt tail. Size matters, number of shots, wounded and not found or argumentative during the proceeding.

In the 80’s I was brought before the court. Opening day my cousin shot and hit a buck. We all searched for hours and could not find the deer.
The next day I was having severe back issues and could not sit in my stand. I got up and was shuffling through the woods trying to loosen up the muscles.
I came across my cousins buck. It was dead, gut shot and bloated. I shot the deer in the neck. Cut his head off. Slit its nose. Put a forked stick in the nose and drug it back to camp. My team needed the points for the pot.

I was brought up on charges after dinner that night. Charged with shooting a dead deer.

For my defense I brought out the game regulations and quoted from the regs. It said, “Any Deer”. “Any Deer” with a point 3” or more. Plead the Regs did not say live deer, walking deer, running deer, sleeping deer. Any Deer. The judge grabbed the regs, read it. Pronounced me “Not Guilty”. Dismissed the jury.

I had the Regs with me and had read them before I shot.
