If you've got trees everywhere then you can use large firewood blocks, extra long cut branches, old hardwood or metal fence posts for drags (min. 6' long). They will hang up quick in timber and you can fasten traps to them with 2 wraps of TIGHTY wound #9 wire (or use the tips from ADC to fasten). No matter how you fasten them just make sure you use 2-3 HD swivels in your trap chain. ................................................... the mike

If you have some old tire chains around the farm, they make good trap or drag chain. You can use that chain and a quick link to hook it around the tree. Cable also works and is cheap, but make sure and inspect it after a catch before resetting. Wire is good for a lot of things on the trapline, but not anchoring coyote traps.

Sure, use cable !

If roots are exposed you can wrap the end of the chain around a root and use a quick link to attach it. Quick and easy. The archives are your friend.

As LT GREY said; "use cable !"

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

If you are going to anchor to a tree make sure you have enough swivels in the chain.
