"In 2019, New York City’s labor unions played a key role in tanking the development of an Amazon location in Queens – and the thousands of jobs that went with it. Now, it looks like unions are once again behind a failed deal for a new Amazon cargo hub in Newark, New Jersey.
Labor unions said they couldn’t support the lease for the hub “unless Amazon made a set of concessions that included labor agreements.” This is despite the fact that the project would have created an estimated 1,000 jobs and included “$125 million in renovating two buildings at the airport, and paying the Port Authority more than $300 million over 20 years — including $150 million up front.”
It’s also worth noting that the average starting pay for Amazon’s hourly workers is more than $18 nationally. The median hourly wage in New Jersey was about $23 last year. But the possibility of bringing in hundreds of well-paying jobs didn’t matter if unions like the Teamsters and the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) couldn’t benefit from organizing these workers."

Labor union leaders claimed credit for the widest range of liberal laws since the New Deal era, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Voting Rights Act of 1965; the War on Poverty; aid to cities and education; increased Social Security benefits; and Medicare for the elderly." Luckily, unions created a welfare system for them.

2 years ago. i put 40 bucks cash in a conservative candidates hand when he dropped off a sign for my yard & we shook hands. every time you drink a pepsi your supporting liberals, use any proctor & gamble products in your home? buy anything from walmart lately? look at the labels on the clothing your wearing right now, china, vietnam, mexico, guatemala, honduras, india, pakistan all America haters. & you guys wanna bash union guys? your ignorance is laughable! They almost sound like Democrats. Do as I say and not as I do. Just an FYI, all my hunting clothes are made in America, by Americans, with American materials. Heck I was about to order some Filson, but they’ve sold out as well. I’ll stick with FORLOH and let them wear their china clothes while bashing unions. Bet those kids making their clothes wish they had a Union.

I started non union in the trade I chose, left to go to the union, become a business owner non union but always paid my membership dues and since closed my business and worked again for non union leaving for a union job.
You just made my head blow up.I have to go get a glass of wine now. It is after noon right?

Blain County: Your wrong.My dues did not go to polititions.Unions run P.A.C comities(Political action) to try and raise funds for contributing to polititions.I not only never donated,,I told them any PAC crap that comes to my house,,,goes in the wood stove.
