Wolfdog, The 6.5 crudmoor round it's self is o.k. It's the folks that bought into the hype and claim it's the end-all / be-all that have turned me against it. Had one guy, old enough to know better, by the shop a couple weeks ago, telling me how the Creedmoor was so superior to anything else, claimed that it was a "zero at 100 yards and just hold the crosshairs on what I want to hit out to 1000 yards" cartridge, that wind didn't affect it at all, and that it didn't get up to full speed until at least 300 yards....When I asked him how it defied all laws of physics like that, he puffed up and called me "just and old Fudd that don't know s*^#". I made him the same offer I've made to several others, (including one on here with a " never miss at 1000 yards 204 Ruger", but I digress), bring it to Camp Butner or Bang-Steel, I'll pay your entry fees and transportation costs, because I want to see magic in person and sponsor the next national champion. Got all huffy and walked out, lol.
It's that type of totally ignorant BS that has completely turned me against anything with the name "creedmoor" attached to it.

ANOTHER answer to a question nobody ever asked....................
Well many someone has a hard time finding .270 brass but like hay caliber... 6.5 creed brass is everywhere ..
I mean honestly it's a dang wildcat 90% of them are like that
I get it.
But the .270-08, .270 Redding, .270 Savage (.27-.300 Savage) and .270 IHMSA have all been done.................. And not a single one of them has and advantage, real or imagined over the good old 7mm-08. The .270 Creedmoor will be also included in that group.
But, hey............. Variety is the spice of life. And the blind .270 Creedmoor followers will just be something else to make fun of.
Wollen nicht krank dein feind. Planen es.

I agree with you 100%. Except I wish I still had the Pedersoli Rolling Block Long Range Creedmore that I foolishly sold. !

Yup, If you went out and bought a 6.5 creedmoor and never in your life considered a .260 Rem. Then you are a victim of clever advertising.

6.8 SPC II cannot be beat ballistically out of a 16" barrel, it's the ultimate optimization of a short action caliber. For long action calibers there just is not really any reason besides pure fun to move from a .270 or a 30-30 for hunting. BLUF is the black gun is 6.8 SPC II, the mini 6.8 is 6.8 SPC II, my lever action is 30-30 and I moved to the 5.7x28 for my pistol.

My next rifle build will be a 6.5 - 06 Ackley improved whenever I can find a long action to build it on.
You won’t be upset with this choice
Its basically just an excuse to build a rifle. Here at home on my property, I am in no need for that kind of cartridge and the old Mod94 in 30-30 does just fine. If I wanted to shoot out further than 70 yards or so on a hunt, I would have to take a weed whacker with me and that would be as productive and useful as an accordion when stalking deer. I am not the tree stand kind of guy and like to combine hunting with a slow leisurely walk / stalk and for that, the 94 with peep sights is just the ticket as it is pretty fast to bring up and easy to cary.

I have yet to find a good reason to stop shooting and handloading the .308. And I shoot and handload more than most.
As with most things these days, the internet makes everyone a pseudo-expert and causes them to chase or endorse the newest thing--to be special and different.

agree with both statements.
[I think that's also why every few years a new trap "improvement" pops up, that causes the bandwagoneers to re-tool]
