Found sticks and twigs in a beaver dam predominantly made out of corn stalks. Weren’t no trees within a half mile. They were going up a field drainage tile to a blow hole right beside the nearest woods. It was every bit of half a mile away.

I was moose hunting on the east side of the Talkeetna Mountains near the headwaters of the Susitna. High country, no trees for many miles, only dwarf willows and dwarf birch. Beaver dam only about 3 feet high but impounding 1/2 acre of ground. Small willows and dwarf birch used for the dam, but incorporated into the dam, several dozen shed caribou antlers. Sure wishing I'd have taken some pictures.
