Local is calling for 50 at midnight with rain and -1 at 6am Friday morning with 20 to 30 mph winds. It's going to be really hard on the animals. I have 30 below gear from living in Colorado but most people here have no real winter gear.

We got her I think 6 weeks ago and she was 15 pounds. She will hit 40 by Christmas ... grows like a weed that one.

This is how I move my firewood around. I have a couple of these set up so I can move them close to the boat with the forks of the tractor A trap zip tied closing off 3 sides stops rain and snow getting the stuff wet.

It is -35 now ! Thank goodness for a great quality woodstove and plenty of fir, cedar and tamarack . When it gets light enough, I'm gonna put on my furs and experience the invigorating air and take a batter pitcha of my thermometer.

It is still as can be . Imagine if there is a slight breeze ...I hope my rabbits are ok.

I lived in SC for 18 years. Rain and cold in the south can be a huge disaster. Warm moist air from the gulf rides up over a cold front from the west and rains through it. The rain freezes on everything it touches. Many of the trees are pines and they really load down, and then come down on already loaded power lines. Vehicles parked outside get a heavy coat of ice and are almost impossible to get into. If it rains much before the cold front hits any salt or brine on the roads washes away. Snow is a blessing vs an ice storm in the south, unless of course the snow comes on top of a layer of road ice. Then there are the drivers with no clue how to handle the situation but still insist in going out in it.

... went from 12 degrees to 70 and raining pitchforks and yankee babies all in a few days span around here...
