We get two thirds of our energy in America from fossil fuels and almost one third of our power comes from coal. That's quadruple the amount of energy we get from wind and solar which are supplemental forms of energy at best.
Biden doesn't see it that way. He continues to pledge to end coal production altogether. "We're going to be shutting these plants down all across America and having wind & solar". Hopefully, the people in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Wyoming are listening because thousands of mostly union jobs are associated with the coal plants he wants to shut down. He says, "We need to shut down these plants and the jobs that come with them because we need to combat climate change". Yet, much of the rest of the world is using more coal as we use less.
The biggest villain is by far China. Beijing is powering its rapid industrial expansion with fossil fuels. They have more than doubled their coal production and consumption over the last decade. While in America we have cut our coal production by almost half. And Beijing has announced it is building dozens of massive new coal plants. Doesn't sound like they are too concerned about climate change.
American coal plants are much cleaner than they were in the past. The Department of Energy issued a report recently that coal fired electricity is cleaner than ever. Research shows that a new coal plant with pollution controls reduced nitrogen oxides by 83 percent, sulfur dioxide by 98 percent, and particulate matter by almost 100 percent.
Under Biden's plan we would move technologically in reverse in our energy sources.

Under Biden's plan we would move technologically in reverse in our energy sources. Wind energy generation should permanently banned never to be spoken about again, but you are dead wrong on solar. Even where you live with solar panels on your house and roof, with a battery bank, you likely would not need to worry about being connected to the grid. Having solar lets you be energy independent and there are only some very niche situations where you cannot get by with just solar. Everybody on trapperman should get solar on their existing buildings, because they are just missing out on not ever having a power bill again. It does take some years to get "paid back" but man, they are a marvelous creation. I'm ok with us not mining anymore coal here in the USA, as long as we can import coal, and whatever process needs to be done to it, it is done here in the USA and any miners are moved to those plants. Yeah even if somebody doesn't agree with coal being used to generate electricity, at the end of the day we all paid big tax money for those scrubbers and we atleast ought to get the service life out of them. If they were good enough to say that we had to use them in the first place, then they should be fine to continue burning coal. I have said this before, I just don't agree that we should destroy our own country for natural resources when we have the money to just buy that stuff from other countries who ARE willing to do that. We need to keep our stuff safe and intact in case we get into a major isolation period. We have roughly like 100 years of oil, minus or plus 5% if we go by daily and annual usage rates in the USA. 100 years is a drop in the bucket for a country, and it should always be our goal to make sure we can pass off "the land" so that they can continue the greatness that we have built here.

Solar and wind will never be comparable to fossil fuels. They are fine as a supplement. When it comes to solar power, we had about 6 sunny days last month. I would hate to depend on the sun 100% of the time for my electricity or heat. According to a report I once saw, in the past 20 years solar and wind have added about 2% to the national power grid.

Ugly as a mud fence, to me uglier then wind farms. Keep the coal fired generating stations going .

One other thing, the Permian Basin in TX is estimated to have enough oil to supply America for the next 200 years. I think I read where the Bakken oil fields of the Dakotas has about the same.

Seems like China has the monopoly in making much of this stuff, who uses fossil fuels to make them, for that reason I refuse to contribute to their income. I've passed up some stuff because it said, "Made In China". Usually the quality is poor anyway compared to American-made.

The whole climate change thing has nothing to do with saving the planet. Its straight out of politics 101, create a false crisis, and then convince stupid people to vote for them because they are the only ones that can fix it. It’s about political power, control and most of all, money. You hit it on the head!

I spent all my working years in the coal industry . I started in 1976 for Consolidation Coal Company, Montour #10 Mine in Library, Pa. It was in the Pittsburgh #8 Seam, 8-10 feet of mining height. After seven years of high coal, I worked in 32”to 42” seams for the next 30 years. When I started in the business, there were 214 mines in Pennsylvania. Today, maybe two dozen. Very few strip mines remaining either. I watched a lot of coal fired plants close in later years, just in western Pa, at least eight that I can think of. Coal burning plants provided a lot of power for the base load, the gas fired peakers could make up the difference. Homer City Station, with its three units, is one of the biggest generators in the country.
