The neighbor does not have a coop or run for his birds. They roost in a tree next to his house. A few of them come overdo my place during the day. So does his rooster. They leave the odd egg in my nest boxes and feed on some of the scratch grains I put out. But they head back to his place in the evening with the rooster in tow. So I can't do anything about keeping them warmer as the tree next to his house is not heated When I saw that rooster this morning it brought back memories of me having to amputate some frost bitten toes of Pete the pelican that hung with us for a few years.

I just closed the run for the night and the neighbors rooster has decided to stay with us for the first time ever. If he had made that choice a day ago, he would not have gotten that frost bite. Now he is sitting on the bar in the enclosed run with 6 of my girls and my two roosters content as can be.

As long as they can get inside or not be let out during the day of extreme cold, they'll survive.
Having wood chips on the floor helps their feet from getting frost bite. Have a roost up off the floor at 18-20 inches helps.
I don't have birds this winter. Glad because of the heavy cold temps.
