He's gonna lose the comb and wattles. Beside keeping him comfortable and warmer I don't think much can be done

I have dabbed a wee bit of Bag Balm onto tender places , but be careful it isn't close to his eyes. Once it warms up it can melt and drift down a bit.

Poor thing. Thank you Michael for wanting to help him.

Most of my roosters come through their first Winter with rounder combs, from the points freezing off. Frost bite is unsightly for a bit, but does not do serious harm. A lot of people dub the combs and wattles off their roosters to avoid frost bite. Combs and wattles heal quickly.

The neighbor does not have a coop or run for his birds. They roost in a tree next to his house. A few of them come overdo my place during the day. So does his rooster. They leave the odd egg in my nest boxes and feed on some of the scratch grains I put out. But they head back to his place in the evening with the rooster in tow. So I can't do anything about keeping them warmer as the tree next to his house is not heated smirk
When I saw that rooster this morning it brought back memories of me having to amputate some frost bitten toes of Pete the pelican that hung with us for a few years.

I'm sure the ones I have that roos at the top of the wall in their coup will have some to. If they are to dumb to roost on one of the two full length the perches with the other chickens or on top the nest boxes or any of the other places they get the results of those choices. They have well more than enough room but chose that location.

It's comon and will not hurt them.

None of my chickens have such big wattles or combs anyway and the Brahmas have really small ones compared to the size of the bird.

My two roosters are doing fine with the cold but can come inside whenever they want and stay inside at night anyway.

I wouldn't think the cold would bother a chicken any worse than other birds.

I just closed the run for the night and the neighbors rooster has decided to stay with us for the first time ever. If he had made that choice a day ago, he would not have gotten that frost bite. Now he is sitting on the bar in the enclosed run with 6 of my girls and my two roosters content as can be.

Some of mine are frost bit this morning, they'll get trimmed in a day or so. One young pullet has frozen feet, never seen that before.

As long as they can get inside or not be let out during the day of extreme cold, they'll survive.

Having wood chips on the floor helps their feet from getting frost bite. Have a roost up off the floor at 18-20 inches helps.

I don't have birds this winter. Glad because of the heavy cold temps.
