Looks like you will get a drop of around 8.4 inches at 200 yards.

My first hi-power was a 30-30. very capable cartridge. Need to be within 150 yards or so for deer. Those flat nose bullets shed velocity quickly. been reading about some plastic tipped pointed bullets they are selling now that wont fire the round in front of it in those tube magazines. If you want to shoot that far I would look for some of those improved bullets. I just shoot mine like I always have. It works great if you dont push the range. No scope on mine either. I can still bead down on a deer at a 100 yards without one. Hornady LeverRevolution https://www.hornady.com/ammunition/leverevolutionI have not tried this stuff but it likely extends your range a bit.

To get a good answer. You need a bit more information. Hight of site above center of bore, BC of the bullet your using and actual muzzle velocity. Without those your just getting guesses Here is a link to a ballistic calculator that is very useful Ballistic calculator

How does barrel length affect this? If steeltraps barrel length were 10", how would this change the guess?
I've found calculators of old to be suspect, but am sure they have improved.
My googler is shot out.

Per inch sounds realistic. I need to get back to hand loading. Thanks.

For 30-30 velocities, the accepted number is 10 feet/second/inch of barrel length. > > 2360fps (20" barrel length) - 10fps/in(20"-10") = 2260 fps muzzle velocity Multiple sources referenced in Sniper's Hide Forum30-30 150gr SP, open sights, 10" barrel Std ATM conditions, +750 ft ^ sea level 50 yds +1.7 inch 2079 fps 1440 ft-lbs 100 yds +2.1 inch 1906 fps 1210 ft-lbs 150 yds +0.0 inch 1744 fps 1013 ft-lbs 200 yds -5.0 inch 1593 fps 845 ft-lbs

My marlin 336 with a 4x scope, shooting 170gr federal blue box is zeroed at 50 yards, hits just about an inch high at 100yrds, and hits about 10 inches low at 200.
I killed a doe at 200 yards this year. Aimed right at the top of her back. I know how people think . But why such a heavy bullet. My dad used a 30-30 for years and shot 125 gr bullets in it. 1 in high at 100. Mid body hold out to 200 = dead deer
