Can anyone tell me what size hole/square a coyote can fit through? I’m trying to build a new cage to house them in while waiting to sell and can’t find horse panels anywhere. I have been able to find sheep panels which show online to have 4x4 squares. Would this be too big and allow them to escape or could I make this work?

Doubt a full grown one would squeeze all the way through but I can see heads getting stuck.

4x4 will work if it's heavy gauge like 4×4 hog panels.

Don't put mature males with other males they will fight bad . Male pups together are OK and one mature male with multiple females is ok.

I use goat panels for a dog pen. They will work for coyotes. A coyote is not going to get through a 4x4 hole.

Thanks guys. My transport box is either 3.5x3.5 or 4x4. Never had any issues, but they don’t seem to work it too hard either between the line and the truck. I know whatever they are housed in for a few days will be worked extensively. This is said to be 4 gauge which is similar if not heavier than the horse panel I believe. I’d prefer the horse panels, but can’t seem to find any sign of them anywhere. I’ve got several months to get one built, but just wanted to see if this would even be an option. Thanks for the help

Horse panels are 7 gauge on the ones I used. Tractor supply had them as well as some some feed stores around. horse panel TSC

i agree. Then you have try to stuff it their head back thru the wire. Warehouse rack panels work they have smaller diameter holes if you can get ahold of some.

If I was building I would go with the 3x3.and use the heavier ga. If your ga. Is to light you will have an empty holding pen soon. jmo.

4x4 Goat panels work but 2x4 horse panels are a lot better. After you push a few heads back thru the 4x4 panels you will wish you had used the horse panels. As for fighting I keep mine in a 16 x16 cage and have never noticed any fighting to amount to anything. And have had 20 to 25 in the pen at all times. Now when transporting them do not put coyotes and grey fox in the same cage, the grays will show you and the coyotes how mean they can be. but if you throw a bobcat in with the coyotes and fox he will show them all who's boss.
