The fourth picture up from the bottom, I had an almost identical set last year The pool of water was a lot bigger though A beaver threaded 4 feet of a 2" stick through the trap without settling it off Before his head hit the trigger. I pulled the trap because I didn't think I'd get lucky twice Out of several caved- holes...this was the only one that water was running thru and the beaver were travelling thru it. Or I should say 1 beaver WAS travelling thru...he met the Belisle there.

Noice. I guess that’s what a bank den looks like? Think a couple I got in fall had a bank den plan. Think the little dam was going to be their feed bed. There was a hole with water in it like that but too small for a beaver, got a mink out of it thinking otter were going in it. Most bank dens eventually cave in...then the beavs start piling limbs, logs, and other debris on it. Those rascals take advantage of a little high ground (in this situation the old raised road bed) to tunnel in and build themselves a house. I generally don't like to get this close to their lodging when trying to catch em, but there is no other access here. Luckily, I think I got em all here anyway.

Not so bad when you can see those holes caving in, real bad if your the one driving along and one falls in with you, lol. Ive often wondered how many hour's per day those joker's spend trenching and some of the hard clay rocky ground ive seen them dig in is amazing, no idea how they can trench through that hard stuff like a track hoe!
