From the same farm this morning, I don’t think it’s the same fox, this one is a small male. The one on video looks larger.

We found a chunk of deer hide near the set. My granddaughter figures the fox was carrying it dropped it a few feet away when he came in to investigate the set. I agree with her. I used it as a backer.

In Maine that would be a no-no. no visible from above animal parts (includes feathers & bones & fur) within 50 yards of a trap.

Here too EB, I completely forgot about that. We'll be going by there after lunch to set up another farm, I'll get rid of it.

Out here in Gods country, we would just nail it down! Caught many a critter on a nailed down foot or patch of fur! You guys back east have too many laws! lol

I wouldn't be surprised if another fox dropped that hide there after you caught him. Maybe you'll have an adult next check. Good looking fox.

Anything is possible Sage. There are three other sets in close proximity to the one that connected. I've caught a good number of doubles and one triple at this location. Had there been another fox, there is a good chance it would have still been there waiting for me. No guarantees though.
