If I bring a licensed snowmobile from SD to ID, do I need any type of ID permit or license? Thanks

Do I have to number my snowmobile if I am a not a resident of Idaho?
Idaho requires all out-of-state snowmobilers to purchase a nonresident snowmobile user certificate. The certificate costs $59.50 and is available at authorized snowmobile registration vendors. It is good for a period of one year. Short term certificates are not available. Nonresidents may designate their certificate fees to the county snowmobile program of their primary use.

Would it matter where you used it in Idaho?

No, but you have to have the registration sticker to be legal. When you designate a county on the form it just means that county gets the bulk of the registration fee for trail maintenance etc. You can use the machine anywhere in the state that's legal to operate on.

Any use on public ground, I would assume a lake would be considered public. Used to be the sticker was only required for riding on groomed trails, but it got changed quite a while back.
