ADC some times its about market timing so you breed on a certain date to get animals to a specific size at a specific time frame. Other times its like my son deals with its to have an animal of the proper size for shows at certain times.

I started lambing nov 8 and am 2/3 done with my 100 ewes. Our worst weather tends to be the end of jan - first part of feb - so I am glad to be mostly done by then. I try to hit the early greek easter/ ester market with 75-90 lambs.

A mix -- commercial and daughter has some blue faced leicesters-- some suffolk, corriedale , and even some texel mixed in. I have liked what the texel did for the bodies but haven't been impressed with the attitudes (rams and ewes). black, white and brown wool - the ones we are saving for wool are mostly med fine . too bad that no one wants wool.

When I was a young kid we had wool sheep, I much prefer these hair sheep and not having to sheer them! I remember at shearing time it was always me and my brothers job to jump up and down in the bag of wool to help pack it in

Those are about the heartiest...least work ..sheep out there.

They don't bring as much per.pound here as the wool.sheep..or gain as good. We've had experience with both types.

And here they still need wormed

Nice lambs.

IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

Cathryn I’m not sure on compared prices of hair and wool sheep here locally, just know what we have gotten in the past for our hair sheep. We still have to worm our sheep, but mainly because I don’t have enough pastures to rotate them through currently. So we just watch them and when they show signs of needing wormed we worm them
