I don't believe they would ever attempt to take all kinds of guns at one time...So, knowing who owns guns in general is secondary, but knowing exactly who currently owns what assault style rifle is primary, and more problematic in the nearer future.

The FOID card is just not for owners. You can't hunt without one even with a borrowed gun. And you might not even own a gun. Works well in Chicago.Our Gov's don't even live in Springfield at the Gov's mansion where Blago had electric installed on the driveway to melt snow off.
