Do you mean in dispersal or in a daily pattern of gathering food or looking for a mate?

Here’s the deal. Gotta a couple beaver calls. The locations are maybe 250-300yds apart. What are the chances both callers are calling about the same beavers?

300 yards would be within home range.

Beaver call? Big rock off bridge to mimic tail slap. Lol
Story for ya. One spring night driving across a bridge we noticed a beaver swimming in the moonlightn on the river below. Told partner to pull over and check it out! We stopped to see there were 3 down there. So We decided to make a set, in the dark, and see if we could watch one get caught. He went down the bank and made a set, I stayed on the bridge and kept an eye on the beaver as they continued to swim about. Everything’s in order, now we wait. Well within about 5 minutes we hear a big tail slap upstream, in seconds the beaver disappeared. That was anticlimactic. We waited around for 10 or 15 minutes for them to return with no action when one of us got the brilliant idea to “call” them back. We grabbed a big rock and dropped it off the bridge making our own tail slap. Within 2 minutes we had 4 beaver swimming around below us. We watched them for a half hour without success. In the morning we came back to find the trap snapped and empty. Lol

6-7-800 yds is no problem for them . Sometimes they travel way farther than what we want to believe

Swimming at about 6 miles an hour they can cover a lot of water in a day, lot depends on beaver density and terrain, mile for sure.

Lake or River? All kinds of variables.
On that note, does anyone know a good beaver trapping book that covers their life & habits & biology? Most of them have 1 chapter on habits and the rest sets. There’s a beaver book (not trapping related) but the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) thing it $60CA!
One must learn everything they can about the beast they pursue…lol
Wasn’t there a wolf trapper who had a university degree in biology or something, worked for DNR and was also a trapper? I think those people writing books would be good, take what they’ve been taught, but dispel some of the theories with the knowledge the picked up first hand in the bush.

Most of the work here is watersheds unaffected by tides. I have done a few tidal creeks, totally different approach.

Really, really good chance in my experience. Should be easy to figure out once on site.

Treat it as a single job, let them split the bill if they want. I’ve handled dozens of beaver jobs with multiple people complaining. The bill is almost always covered by a single customer.

This is how I determine single vs multiple locations: are they tending the same dams? If so, they’re all lumped as one. It might be a single beaver, it might be 15 beavers. If they’re tending the same dam, it’s treated as one unit. This would be a typical beaver pond or drainage.

If tending separate dams, even if they’re close together, I treat them as separate units. They may be lumped together for billing or trip reasons, but they’re definitely separate units. I can eliminate one group and still have to deal with the separate group. An example would be beavers in parallel ditches.
