Yes, unfortnately Stihl produces much of the homeowner level components in their Qingdao china factory to be assembled in Virginia beach.

Back in the nineties Stihl made at least one model of chainsaw that had oil caps that were close to impossible to close tight enough to keep the bar lubricant in. They did eventually get around to replacing the caps for the unfortunates that bought them, after about a year. One of my best friends had 2 of them and I used them to cut about 7 acres one Winter. I hated them.
