I have a couple skunks that have yellow stained stripes and I am wondering if there is some way to get them white again? I have used the peroxide/baking soda/dawn dish soap on them to get all the stink out. Thanks!

You might try using some borax. I use it on coyotes to remove blood stains. Once the skin as dried and the fur turned out I work considerable dry borax powder into the stained areas, let set for 10-15 minutes and then comb, brush, and shake the borax out. Using this borax treatment method works extremely well as can be seen in the following before and after pictures. As well as removing blood stains the borax also cleans and brightens the fur.

I am all ears on this topic as I live where there is a lot of clay, all shades but lots of red clay. Our skunks run from slightly dingy yellow to almost orange. I have not found anything that will remove the mineral stain and really whiten them up. Removing the surface dirt help some but not a lot.

I have tried most whitening products. Have never been able to get the rust/yellow color out even after tannng.

I used Dawn and OxiClean and let it soak a couple hours and it was much better but still a light yellow tint towards the rear end. Killed the skunk smell too.
