Client from last summer. This horse was 54” with a good girth. Summers biggest. I did not take the picture but I was there to verify the measure.

Another client this summer. This guys a pro athlete at over 6’4” for perspective. The fish tickled 53”.
It was a good year for big pike, boated 3 others over 50” and I can’t recall the number between 45 an 50”.
Largest lake trout in the boat last year was 53lbs.

Where were you fishing to catch pike over 50”?

Came across this image when I was googling "circle hooks for huge pike". Something to dream about.
Anyone here use circle hooks to facilitate the release of big Pike? Care to share your experiences with them?

Friend has started playing with them. I’m not impressed so far 2/3 were hooked deep. Using the straight not the offset circles. Not sure if we’re pulling too quick and it’s setting deep r if they need to be barbless or what. So at I have good luck with quick strike rigs by leaving the hooks in the middle of the bait at the dorsal fin. Only had one deep hooked fish all winter

I have not yet used the circle hooks and have had good luck on the two treble quick strike rigs in the past but have had occasional fish that have swallowed the whole works. I have found that by making the tip up really hard to trip, the fish often get hooked right away when they grab the bait. One treble is usually right in the corner of the mouth. I will hook one treble right under the skin behind the head and the other right in the dorsal fin. The live and dead baits hang horizontally that way and since the pike generally grab the bait by the front end, they will get the hooks right away.
Thanks for the input!

I think mine was a shade over 20lb. Didn't get a measurement though. Lol

When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.

Those fish are all giants. I've yet to catch much more than 20".
