Was in Nam 71-72. Filed for a claim for hypertension August 10 2022, got my document back 3 days ago with 0% disability. I had fellow vets constantly telling me to file for claims for health conditions, so I did and I will show them what I got. I know several who have worked on these for years if not decades. I am one who probably will not keep applying. Yes they have new time frames, places and conditions. They also have more ways to deny that goes with expansions.

I spent three days and two nights at Camp Lejune. I inquired about the claim for the contaminated water. The lawyer said a 30-day minimum stay was required.

I have had colon cancer and lost a kidney to cancer. Never know if it was related or not

I think that was before the new Pact Act Law as passed and signed, try again, use a VA Vet Rep.

If your claim was filed before 01 Jan 2023, hypertension would have been denied it could be granted after 01 Jan. But you need to have documentation in your service record of the Vietnam service. If you read your rating decision it tells you what is missing. I'd be happy to talk to about and try to figure out what happened. Feel free to pm me

I got 100 percent when they installed the pacemaker. Thanks. I can help people out to. I've helped a couple of soldiers get their disability. The key is don't give up even if they turn you down a couple times.

I was at the VA office and the VA service officer completed the filing for the claim for me and told me that at that time hypertension was indeed being recognized at that time as related to Agent Orange. So I don't know who is correct. Lot of not so good information gets passed around and it takes 3-6 months to find out what is determined so the process can and does take a lot of time. I do use the VA system for my vision and in August I was planning to use community service local medical that works with the VA for coverage. I have not received full clarification if that process is complete or in flux and that was in August as well.

The PACT was signed into law on 10 Aug 2022, but didn't become effective until 01 Jan 23. The PACT act states hypertension is a new presumptive of herbicide exposure. I can give you the link and also the link to file your claim online should take you less than 15 min. Pm me if you need more info

Charles this is a tricky one but here's the answer. Veterans who served at least 30 days (doesn't have to be consecutive) between 01 Aug 1953 - 31 Dec 1987, can file a claim for the presumptive conditions. Here's the part that applies to you. Veterans with at least 1 but less than 30 days of Camp Lejeune service CAN be considered for Healthcare purposes and/or direct service conection.

Bottom line you should file and submit any evidence you have that shows you were there.

File a claim thru the VA anyway leave the lawyers alone. Kidney cancer gets you 50 percent plus 300 bucks for the missing kidney.

You need to use their reason for denial as the reason they must give it to you. Get with a VA service officer and they will fix you up. It's free help and they know how to word the appeal.

As stated above I worked with the service officer in our county and he sent my application in. They received it in October and the denial came on February 2, 2023. The reason for denial was that my historic BP did not show I was over 100 diastalic long enough. I currently take 4 meds for BP and most readings are 120-140 over 65-75, so they are doing their job. I have some other issues that I will get more clarification on shortly.

Thanks for doing this Wild WI, I spent time the last couple of weeks trying to get something for my Dad, a WW II veteran. The worst was trying to get an account with my phone, not his, he is half blind and mostly deaf, and lives on his own, 96 years old and wants to stay where he is.
