Nessie-Your CI pans are beautiful...but tell me more about the rice cake. I sell a lot of iron and steel antiques and am interested.

Nice work!

My mom works the local auctions she bought all the crappy cast iron that was rusty to no end and went cheap.she watched on youtube water electrolysis I think is what she called it.. it worked pretty well cleaned up rust she would reseason and resale. Cast iron goes for a pretty penny here if it looks good.

Whether smooth or porous, the seasoning should fill in the voids and leave a perfect surface. No need to buff a pan to an absolutely smooth surface.

Just oiled them up..and in the 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
Then after a cool down...repeat this 3 more times.

Them rice cakes don't remove any metal ...but they sure get rid of any rust and built up crud..real fast. I was using a wire wheel at first...which just smeared stuff around. These rice cakes go through that crap like a hot knife through buttah
