I got a 3 day buyers license to purchase grey and skunk for a friend to tan if reasonably priced. Apparently if you have buyer license and also SELL something at this auction they automatically assume it's junk. Some days I'm too honest for my own good. Costs me money. I sleep good and look in mirror with no regrets but dang there's times it sux. Lesson learned.

Ha! Well, I can kind of see how the thought process was going. Certainly not unheard of for buyers to do things like that. Well, hopefully you got some freezer space now.

He must have got bad sick. Illinois fur is a lot better than a southern state like AR

Unless one is there to see the grading we don't know the quality of the dry versus the wet prices, but if quality is similar for roughly $2 I would put up any beaver or otter.
Rat prices seem to be responding a bit. Seeing more 2.50 plus averages instead of the $1.75 averages.

I don't think $2 is enough of a difference, but I like the option of having put up fur to send to FHA if you don't get the local price you are wanting.

I think folks will be pleasantly surprised at what beaver will do at FHA in March. Especially the big sizes.

Think most were 25-50 carcass, top put up(2) brought 100 they had spots front and back and were 40" .
Not much of a secret. Things mostly brought market value, unless you hit the bidding war at the two Arkansas sales the state auctions results posted are pretty much what buyers are willing to pay.

I actually bought the top two and they're going to the Tannery, wish they'd been in the carcass as I'd have tried the taxi market.

Thank you for the info. Maybe western cats will advance enough to push commercial cats higher. Plan to run a land line this upcoming season since the beaver population is low in my community at present.

Commercial cats sold well at the June FHA sale.
