The metalic cartrige rifles for muzzleloading have to be breech loading single shot with an exposed hammer 35 cal or larger during the early antlerless only deer season the 10 days before regular rifle season. It is also restricted to private land only. Leased land or someone else's private land that you have permission to hunt on also qualifies as private land. I hunt in Atala county and our club is a real stickler for the rules so they make a point to remind us every year. Not trying to be a smarty but I am reading the 22/23 regs as I am writing this. The rifle you want is an excellent choice but it will not meet the requirement for that season. From December 1 on on private land you can use your weapon of choice on private as long it is a center fire, or you can use a muzzleloader as described or archery equipment.

If you're not too stuck on the Henry, The Marlin 336RC in .35 Rem is deer killer from way back.

Sounds like you need a NEF or H and R. Unless you want to spend a lot of money on a replica sharps or something. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/972448947 Since this rifle is in Brandon MS you could drive over and have a look.

My brother has the Henry single shot. It’s breech loading and exposed hammer. It should work for your regs. It is a very beautiful gun.
He is having real problems with light primer strikes, though. It has been sent back several times and still misfires with a range of factory ammunition. They seem to be very easy to deal with as far as paying for shipping and trying to fix it by replacing parts and such, but shipping guns back to a company is a real pain no matter what. I would probably avoid that gun based on my experience watching him deal with his lemon. Last time we took it out, a box of Winchester ammo had 4 rounds that misfired. It has been quite frustrating for him.

Primitive Weapons
Weapons legal for use during the Primitive Weapons season are all archery equipment and primitive firearms. "Primitive firearms," for the purpose of hunting deer, are defined as single or double-barreled muzzleloading rifles of at least .38 caliber; OR single shot, breech loading, metallic cartridge rifles (.35 caliber or larger) and replicas, reproductions, or reproductions of those type rifles with an exposed hammer; OR single or double-barreled muzzleloading shotguns, with single ball or slug. All muzzleloading primitive firearms must use black powder or a black powder substitute with percussion caps, #209 shotgun primers, or flintlock ignition. "Blackpowder substitute" is defined as a substance designed, manufactured, and specifically intended to be used as a propellant in muzzleloading or other black powder firearms, excluding modern smokeless powder. Metallic cartridges may be loaded with either black powder or modern smokeless powder (cartridges purchased at sporting goods stores). Telescopic sights are allowed while hunting with any primitive firearm during the primitive weapon seasons. During any open season on deer with primitive weapons after November 30, a person may use any legal weapon of choice on private lands only, if the person is the title owner of the land, the lessee of the hunting rights on the land, a member of a hunting club leasing the hunting rights on the land, or a guest of a person specified above. If the person is required to have a hunting license, the person must have a primitive weapon license, Sportsman's License, or a Lifetime Sportsman's License. how far are your engagement distances ? if you shoot all your deer say inside 50 yards and can seldom even see farther not sure what gun your 45 colt revolver is , if your ranges are not far you could do a 45colt Henry rifle one ammo for both guns. 35s are great and 350legend is not a bad caliber , it is decently available , it is designed to get as much performance from the strait wall cartridge state limitations. the problem with most 35s is they were just never popular enough to make ammo very available your state law says 35 but you can go larger like 44 or 45 to meet your regs it looks like it has to be a single shot if it is a breech loader so lever gun is out https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/single-shot-rifle/
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Yotetrapper. If you go with the legend. Word of advice. Buy as much factory ammo as you think you will need for the next 20 or so years. Save all your brass. So, if one day you or someone else decides to handload. Then you have 60% of what you need. The BRASS. In the meantime. Start buying reloading equipment and componets as you find and can afford.
I personally love the the .358 win, 35 Rem.
Good luck and happy hunting.

I would go with the legend also. I have had nothing but good reports about it. It seems to be much better than the 35 whelen as far as recoil and the whelen with lighter bullets and fast speeds can be finiky. So light recoil all I've heard is accurate plenty of stopping power and ammo availability sounds like a win win. FWIW I actually built and Encore barrel for the new regs years ago but that was wy before the 350 Legend and it's a whole other story anyway.

I'm a big fan of the .35 Remington but ammo has been almost non-existent for two-plus years and it's stupid expensive when it does become available.
Eh...wot?
