My father kept "fancy" chickens as a hobby. I do remember he had a couple pens of Crested Polish, black bird with a white top knot. Don't be surprised if the birds you get don't turn out as spectacular as the hatchery pictures show you. They use the best of their show birds for their advertisements. For the most part they will look okay just not as showy. Pops had a bunch of different varieties plus 45/50 Rhode Island Red layers. He got all his birds or fertile eggs from his fancy chicken buddies. I remember he once got a dozen Wyandotte eggs from a supplier. He always used Old English Game hens to set eggs. The hen brought them all off. A couple nights after they hatched a mink got into the coop and killed all the chicks and tore up the hen pretty good. The next night Mr Mink payed the price. Pop shot him right through an old shovel with his 12ga.

Not looking up to show standard or even the SOP is a given for any breed.
