I have used both types of levers and prefer 2 coil traps. Never saw a need for 4 coiled traps in my 60 + yrs. of trapping. I run mostly MB 550's but use some larger jaw sizes when trapping the West especially when working guided blind/trail sets for cats. Other than that, standard stamped levers work just fine for me.

Learn to make up a decent near weatherproof set on average and that is the answer. Wire levers won't fire thru a frozen down trap, nor will 4 coils break thru.

That is a myth. If one freezes down, they both will.

I have a take on this. I like levers. My reason is that springs can be changed and added or removed according to the situation and my needs with standard levers. With wire levers, if the springs go soft the only option is to change the whole setup since springs and levers are one unit, and that is IF you can find good replacements (try to find strong CDR springs to replace some that have rusted to the point of weakness, and if you find them I will take a few dozen right now!). Wire levers are less versatile and offer no significant advantages in my situation.
