Thanks for the ride along JP. Missing a year is tough when it's in your blood. Good job getting out and scratching that itch!

I recognize that trail! Now I know…..lol. Crushed the marten in the few weeks that you went out eh? At the end of the season the fisher started hitting our box’s. My buddy still couldn’t get another ermine, baits we’re always missing with rat trap set off, he was getting quite frustrated…hahaha. Lol they can be tricky sometimes! I was hoping for 20 Marten, but ran out of time. Maybe next year I’ll start in December. Not much Fisher sign this year.

Looks like some nice dark marten. Nice put up. Not many ermine this year on my walkabouts,..a good pop in your area? Always seems to be a good population of them. I think I caught 10 this year.

Yeah I always wait for rifle season to be over before I start, let all that traffic die down. If the Marten are there in November, they will be there December, January and February. They’re easy to catch, so may as well wait for the hunters to clear out, and more consistent cold weather by that time. For now though, off to Lake Winnipeg!!
