Since ice cream joey and his merry bands of thieves brought up this issue it was like a piece of hot apple pie to those with student loans.
So here's the rub.
By doing this, knowing the chances of it are near lottery odds, he created an issue. Because the American public is so stupid and act on emotions rather than facts, specifically democrats, it has easily become another divisive campaign issue. Joey, or whoever the other fruit bat is that runs on the d ticket for president, will campaign he/she will fight for student loan forgiveness. This insinuates and creates the illusion republicans don't want student loan forgiveness. It is not whether they want it or not. The issue is impossible.
But because we have recently graduated students with degrees in sociology that cost them $50k+ that can't find a job with that degree, we have emotional voters who will vote the guy/gal in who campaigns on student loan forgiveness.
Never mind it is impossible.
Never mind it is unconstitutional.
Never mind it will raise everyone's taxes again if it were to ever happen.
Just give me my "free" $20k and I will vote for you.
Amazing how politicians can play to stupid voters and win. Sad actually, but ignorance is bliss!!
How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?

Sometimes I wonder if we have advanced as a society since we stopped hanging horse thieves.

It's a win win.
If it goes through they've bought lifetime votes.
If it's shot down they've created a wedge issue to rally votes.
No downside considering the targeted demographic are to dumb to understand they are being played. My wife had her federal loans forgiven as a public servant and it was quite welcome. Not sure how we are being played as we didn’t vote for him nor will we ever. Understand it has to come from somewhere but at the moment not having to make that payment every month is helping us…….

The MSM controlling the narrative in a negative way for decades has been a powerful brainwashing thing

Makes you wonder why people go to collage for if they come out and are so stupid they fall for this. Just further proof 90% of collage is a wast of time and money.
Toney your wife's debt forgiveness come with conditions of service x for so much time. They offer it becuse those jobs are undesirable yet need filled. Youer wife is working for her debt forgiveness. That much different than getting it given to you for free and stolen from someone else Yes, we were in a program for 10 years to get this done. But she would have been working anyway, so why not take advantage of the program? Wife and I worked our butts off and paid our loans off. So should everybody else. You’re saying that if you were eligible, you would have turned it down? Maybe, you would have…..but we didn’t see the point of turning it down when it helped our financial situation.

Good grief. Let me simplify this. Your situation was work for loan payoff. In essence you did pay it off. The program you took advantage of is IN NO WAY what joey and the thousand thieves are suggesting. They are talking about just giving students money for absolutely no reason and no obligation of service. Most of the "forgiveness" will go to master's degree and above. Are you ok giving someone your tax money to get off scott free and having to nothing for it. You and your wife served ten years. Joey just wants to give it to them. See the difference? I paid mine off in 9 years because THAT WAS THE DEAL I SIGNED. It is also the deal EVERYONE ELSE with a student loan signed. It's a contractual obligation. When any politician gives you money, They are giving you TAX MONEY that has been collected from you and everyone else. They don't do this because they care about you. They do this to get your vote with the money they took from you in taxes. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE MONEY. Here's some math for you. 143.4 million taxpayers as of 2020. Total proposed cost of "forgiveness"- 400 billion. That means 2,791.00 more will have to be collected from every single tax payer to give someone with a masters degree a $20k credit on their student loan.

Spot on Tony. They are going to waste your money anyway. I'd rather it paid student loans to Americans than go overseas to who knows where. It's a drop in the bucket compared to money wasted in Uke. What college is your son going to attend?

Let them eat cake.
Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc. “Let them eat cake” is the most famous quote attributed to Marie-Antoinette, the queen of France during the French Revolution. As the story goes, it was the queen’s response upon being told that her starving peasant subjects had no bread. Because cake is more expensive than bread, the anecdote has been cited as an example of Marie-Antoinette’s obliviousness to the conditions and daily lives of ordinary people.

What college is your son going to attend? His collage is 100% paid for in scholarships and grants. His GPA is VERY high and they want him there bad. - and he'll be voting republican, same as me and my wife who have paid off over $60k in student loans. I guess you'd rather send your money to Ukraine. I can see how that is really helping Americans.

I gues you would make me pay $2791.00 more in taxes if your son wasn't on scholarship. Kind of selfish if you ask me.
