Wilson Rawls came to my elementry school back in the early sixties not long after I'd read the book. It was like seeing a hero.

Where the Red Fern Grows is good, but…..Big Red by Jim Kjelgaard is better, followed by Irish Red by the same author….

A great book. I loved it and "Big Red".
