Praying for her!

I will say this up until I die. Plastic plastic plastic is one major factor fir all this cancer . Think back when most of us were kids . Pop came in GLASS. We didn’t drink everything out of plastic . Most houses used glass cups . Paper plates WERE paper . Milk came in glass or paper cartons ! Only thing in aluminum cans was beer and that was later. In the 70’s who ever dreamed of bottle water? Heck around here it was illegal to sell water unless it was water company supplied a house . It’s a proven fact if a beverage sits in the sun or is frozen in a plastic bottle some of the components of the bottle break down and get into the liquid.
Yea they say some plastic is safe . But set that on fire and sniff the smoke and say that !!

Prayers for her.
Mine wasn’t expected either.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Eating lots of fruits and leafy vegetables , dark chocolate, etc have things called antioxidants in them. Antioxidants move throughout our system and gobble up free radicals as they're being released. I wonder how much cancer could be avoided if people ate the amount of fruits and veggies that the FDA suggests we should.

Among things that produce carcinogens are preservatives in foods, plastic contamination, and of course burnt fats. Pesticides in the food and water we drink are not to be discounted either.

But unfortunately, there is always going to be people that do everything right and get cancer.... and then there's those that smoke, eat poorly, don't exercise, etc etc and live to 100.

Your always going to get the nay sayers..

Being called a cancer survivor myself. I think I agree with you more on the topic than others here. Growing up lead and asbestos were the boogie man that was going to get us all. Now I think the plastic is the next generations boogie man. They just don't have the science caught up yet.
I work in construction at early age and then as a firefighter until cancer took me out. I been exposed to some of everything.. Talking with my doctor after my first round with cancer. He gave me some high number statistics about chance of it reacuring. I recall saying you mean I got better chance of being run over in parking lot leaving here. We both laughed about it.
Six months later I was back in that same office with cancer in same spot as big as first time. That's was life changing then.
I've been considered now cancer free for last 8 years. Not sure how they can say that when the doctor cut cancer off my face last summer. So I say Im only cancer free of the colon cancer. Who knows what else is brewing.
I believe it is a lot of genetic in my case if know family history. Then add age and environment cancer can get anyone.

I wish this gal the best. Keeping her self in shape is certainly going to be a plus for her. The hard part is not letting people drag you down and staying positive.

My best wishes to her in her battle.

Mac

One thing I have noticed is that often times there is a stress issue immediately prior to a cancer diagnosis. A friend got bucked off a horse, hurt his back, 3 weeks into treatment he developed a tumor, died in a couple months, same scenerio with another and a minor car wreck. I think it maybe there in some and it takes a some stress for it to be able to raise its ugly head. Just my personal observation.

Prayers for you sister in law.

Prior to going into the non-profit end of the legal world, I was a paralegal for 17 years and handled asbestos defense cases nationally. Cancer in women, specifically lung and reproductive was the fastest growing area at the time, and most were non-smokers.

Environmental exposure - asbestos, talc, etc are no joke. Many women used products and gadgets that contained asbestos, lived in houses built with asbestos containing products, use talc powder or baby powder. These things that they have known were cancer causing for YEARS and YEARS, yet they allowed them to be used.

It was always very interesting to me, that they can usually tell what type of exposure caused the cancer - whether it's genetic, environmental, etc. As they study her pathology, they may get some answers.

Also, interesting to note that a woman, housewife who was a stay at home homemaker, are 50-75% more likely to have cancer than women who worked outside the home. And that is because of exposure to environmental causes (asbestos, talc) and products in the home that they use(d) daily that cause cancer.
