NAFA used to give a Top Lot for every section and size for a few years. Just Sayin! Right on this, they used to give top lot awards for "coat coon" when they were popular.

Last year Jerry got 35.00 nose count on the ones qithout he feet. He had 20 with the feet.. his overall average was 40.
This year he's already been offered 40.00.nose count on the ones without feet.

What happen to this guy? I'd sell to him.

Dirt..i know you dont.like me..but it is what it is..as so often happens..money talks and bs walks.. the guy that said he wanted the 200 marten for 65.00 decided he was just running his.mouth when Jerry told him he'd have em.for him.
He cuts another guy in from time to time who traps near Dubois. Between the 2 of them they had his 200 and he bailed.
If you've sold any amount.of fur you know tha happens sometimes.
When we sell these I'll post the receipt minus the buyers name since there seems to be a question about the validity of our market.

^^^^^ I'm going to butt in here just a bit; I might have an explanation.
There are becoming more more and more fur buyers for the craft market and other such markets that don't absorb the quantities that traditionally have been used by the bigger markets. These smaller buyers could go to Canada or across the Atlantic to the big auctions and buy skins for what appears to be a less expensive price. But by the time they pay the "Buyers Premium", shipping, customs brokerage fees, USWFS import permits, their airfare and lodging, those skins end up costing a whole lot more than what we see posted as the auction price. Therefore, they can often pay a lot more for those skins when buying directly from the trapper, and they are still saving money.
We see this particularly with big otters in the west.

There must be few 2 to 3X dark heavy marten in North America. Every time I catch one it will be in lot 1 or 2. The size is common here. The color, not so much. 3000 2 103030207 3X-2XSELECT & I XDK-DK BRN 1. Guess I wasn't lying.

Sorry I've been busy cleaning and selling ramps Exactly..and he could all he can catch. Also..people.are trying to fill contracts and if you have enough of them they'll pay a premium to get their order filled. The guy in colorado that said he wanted 200 at 65 was full of crap because when we told them we had them available..with Jerry friends.marten in Dubois..he said his market fell through Jerry sells usually 25 or 30 with the feet to a guy in south Dakota who owns a tourist shop.. The rest he skins without the feet and sells to the a regular fur buyer who has already guaranteed him 40.00 straight..it may be more when he goes to sell. Jerry catches more that some state sales offer for auction

The standard (perfect sized) board for marten is the ranch mink board. One size for male and one size for female.Unless you want the grader guessing(and when they have to guess it wont benefit the producer) all marten going to auction should be formed on the ranch mink boards. Pointy noses get a downsize too so make sure they are nice and rounded. Mark the size lines on your boards, pin the skirt straight across from the base of the tail, and pin between the size lines to allow for shrinkage. Pin the hind legs where they hang.pulling them thins the fur on the flank where the grader runs his thumb and forefinger along the pelt to determine "weight" when grading.

Jerry's marten buyer is only good for a certain number of furs? I'm confused. If a guy can make money on 1 or 2 hundred furs, Marten in this case, wouldn't he make more money with 1000? I've only sold Marten in Alaska or at big auctions. (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) take all the marten he can get far as i know. If you have any text me. I can talk to the guy and probably get you in contact with him if you have very many. Yours will be worth more than ours.
