[quote=Ohio Wolverine I've seen Amish that had water pipe the size of the exaust on the motor run up out of the basement out the wall to the outside.

Interesting that they still use them but not surprising that they do. I wonder what they do when an engine needs parts for an original engine. Parts are a hard find. They may just install different engines on them and that would make sense then.

My grandmother saved all her egg and butter money for several years and finally bought one in the 1920's. Sadly, it was sold during auction when their South Dakota farm was foreclosed on in the depression.

When I was a kid, I bought one from a fella for 5 bucks and was going to use it on a go cart project that I was messing with. (I was really young) I wound up trading it off for a set of wheels for the cart. Never did get an engine for it after that and just used the cart to roll down steep hills and crash at the bottom. The engine ran good.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

I bet they were used for go-carts a lot around the county. As a kid I remember there was about a half dozen kids that had homemade go-carts and If I remember some of them had that kick start which is a good indication, they were a WMB engine.

The little engines are worth some money now hard to find and hard to buy one.

You lucky duck. I have always wanted a Maytag motor but so far couldn't afford one. However, Maytag quit making them and subcontracted to B&S. I do have this one that I got going. A lot of my kin used both the Maytag and B&S. It's a great hobbie.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Yep here is the one I got looks about the same. Yours a lot more complete than mine. I believe I can get an original gas though.

My dad has around 10 of them fully refurbished he got after my mom's dad died. Never seen them run. My dad refuses to part with them and I know I'll have to be the guy to deal with the things when the inevitable happens.

The local Amish have stores for a lot of their needs , Dry goods to bacon is ordered in large quanities ,to get them cheaper.
The store hands out a flyer and all the Amish in the area order what they need.
They also have a hardware store that I buy from , cheaper than anywhere else.
They have Honda gas engines for everything from water pumps to washing machines.
Some use Diesel fuel to run meatal working shops , and others use gasoline for wood working shops.
It's interesting to see all the lathes and drills and other machines run off belts and drive shafts.
