I believe it cost the government money to have these tags made and distributed. Should the general public pay for this or the user of the tags? I know it cost the State a buck to have me issue them and fill out the paperwork. It also cost the State to mail them to me. There is a State employee who manages the sealing program and I believe does it for a paycheck.

Nice input trappers, paying the price stinks but waiting for the tag is worse since we have shipping times to meet and the state employee who doesn’t trap doesn’t understand this , we have to buy a OTC temporary tag why can’t the place you buy that just give it to you there ? Here they clip it on to make sure they get the info they need they never send or hand you the tag to put on yourself. AZ had a temp tag years ago still might not sure today.

Not trappers. "Where does the money come from? Pittman-Robertson Act funds are derived from federal excise taxes collected from manufacturers and importers on the following items: Handguns (10 percent of wholesale price) Other Firearms (11 percent)—includes any portable weapons such as: Rifles Carbines Machine guns Shotguns Fowling pieces Antique firearms Shells and cartridges (11 percent) Firearm parts or accessories (11 percent) Archery equipment (11 percent)"

You forgot licenses that the GF collect it cost me almost $100 for my combo and trapping plus the big game tags it still goes to the game department I think they can give a few dollars back. I’m a trapper that buys guns, ammo, archery equipment, fishing gear and licenses so yes trappers pay in many ways.

I didn't forget anything. I know hunters pay for most of the game management and their funds are most likely diverted to manage trapping.

If I trap 100 marten and sell them for $10,000 who benefited besides me? Certainly not everyone.

To tell you the truth Lee I believe each and every State imposes their own tagging requirements. As far as I know, no wildlife requires a CITES tag unless it is going to be exported? I believe the CITES tags are provided free to State agencies and are used to tag wildlife that are required to be tagged by State regulations. I also tag wildlife with State tags that the State has manufactured.
