My buddy, needed trap setters to set his MB 750’ s. And that is just one more thing to keep track of on the trap line. So, I added extensions, so he could go a little faster. I know a lot of trappers seen this. But, some hasn’t. I used a dc machine with 3/32, 6011 rods. I only welded on one side so, if he doesn’t like them, I could take them off, with out any issues. And I lightly sanded them to help keep them clean from dirt buildup. The rod is 5/16 and it’s 3/4 inches away from the levers. I hope this helps someone, who doesn’t want to carry setters. Ive done this on some low lever 1.5s that were overly strong and not enough lever to grab on.

Thank you! I never thought about doing this, its a game changer. This week I busted out two milk crates of old #1.5 traps I'm going to use for nutria. The levers are low and hard to manipulate. This will make life a lot easier when you have wet muddy traps to deal with.

I used to have a bunch of 1.5 Montgomery traps years ago that was my go-to fox traps for many years. They were very strong little traps that pinched me and a few students doing instruction programs. One fella I recall got hit so many times he was about ready to go home. Some folks just can't get on to setting traps without getting caught frequently.

Those add on lever extensions would have been sweet on those short lever strong Montgomery's. I learned to work with them as they were.
