If there were...wouldn't you currently be selling northern beaver higher than these prices. I’ve got a lot of respect for you, but i think you need to realize that Guy is out for Guy. What was your average on green beaver with him? Not the top. I want to know the average. Plus the total count that led to the average.

Avg was $22.93 for 28 beaver....all raw frozen.
(Piles: $40, $32, $20, $10, $3)
I do realize any businessman is out to make money...isn't that what any business is about?
I'm not taking up for Groeny specifically. I just don't quite understand the problem here.
Groeny was paying xx dollar avg for beaver since this season's harvest began. They put out more than one YouTube video telling trappers to get 'em.
Fur Harvesters sale just occurred and beaver sale went very good.
I'm not sure if Groeny increased this week or if he has been paying this for several weeks.
I'm positive the hatter market is driving this. So, if these southern hatter raw beaver pelt prices are just the work of a con then I'm missing something. Most of the northern beaver seem to now be hatters too.

From what I know of the situation Groenwold knew that there was not many beaver being harvested and so he put out videos saying they really wanted beaver. No mention of prices ever, but with felt prices advancing because of short supply I think Greonwold wanted to buy as many beaver early as they could with a very favorable profit margin for themselves. That's alright, but I think FHA results just lifted the veil aways from what is really happening out there. Now everybody buying beaver knows they need to pay up.

I agree with your description of the current beaver market situation. This is most likely what has/is occurring. But, what part of that is a con? If Groeny did this, aren't all the other beaver buyers??

I had some inside information on what felters were paying per lb on beaver some time ago, and at the same time I was hearing what the Groenwold buyers were paying for beaver in the country. I'm just saying that (to me) it appears that they were happy enough to pay the early prices for beaver even though they knew the market had advanced significantly.
I've really got no argument with it per se. I'm just a distant observer....I reckon that's how business works most often.

I for one didn't pay much attention to Groeny's videos saying to trap more beaver. I figured...yeah right, at the most $8 to $10 per raw pelt. So, I didn't get too excited. Dang it!

Not going to happen on shearable goods. What isn't going to happen? The raping.

What is the current high demand that is driving these beaver prices? Shearable or hatter? Has hatter prices caught up to shearable?
In the South it has.

I'm glad you Southern guys have a jingle in the pocket for your beavs, otters, and bcats. A guy has to score sometime. The only road killed bobcat I've ever seen was coming back from Ft. Benning to Atlanta after seeing my paratroop kid graduate from his training so certainly you all have more than we do in my part of SD. We also now have an otter season for the past 2 years, so far it lasts about a week before the quota of 20 state-wide are caught. My local river will be too unreliable if all of our snow melt goes fairly quickly in early April so maybe next November I'll hit the water season when it opens and see if I can score me a few beavs and maybe an otter before that season slams shut. Enjoy your coin while you can ...
