Spritely looking little fish, Drifter .

There are times I do miss those big glass tanks. You're right, the only material that looks nice.

They were sure fun as a kid, fun to maintain for other folks as an adult.

Otters are eating all of our fish.
Interesting to hear you say that. There is a trout stream near my house. Some of the trout fishermen complained that the trout population was poor even though the fisheries division claimed they stocked the stream every year. I wrote an article in the local paper stating that the reason for the small amount of trout was due to a large population of otter that travel that stream.

A lady wrote a rebuttal to my article stating that it was a proven fact that otter only ate rough fish. She didn't offer any statistics to back up her claim.
They never have any proof , just their hurt feelings for the animal.
They have no idea what animals do in real life .

When I was a kid I spent many hours catching bluegills and sunnies with a fly rod and poppers. Seeing those pictures brought back some good memories ;0)

The colorful sunfish in wolfy"s pic is a Lepomis auritus (redbreast sunfish). They have a long dark earflap and a large mouth which a pumpkineed sunfish (Lepomis gibbisus) lacks. Pumpkinseeds have a red spot at the tip of their earflap and a relatively small mouth.
It really doesn't concern me what people call any of them, as long as they have the peanut oil hot enough to splatter and make a mess when they fry them.

I should get out and early season trout fish. I haven't figured out yet what kind of flies work good in the early season between January til late April when real flies don't seem to be out & trout don't seem to agressively feed.
