During my trapping season, cats were nowhere to be seen. Yesterday however my neighbor saw a small bobcat in his yard catch a squirrel. I tend not to think of bobcats being big puruers of squirrels, but maybe I'm wrong

Maybe not common prey for bobcats, but if it was easy to catch I'm sure they will take the opportunity.

Especially after a long winter and deep snow. They will take what they can get this time of year!

I have nothing clever to put here.

HOLY CRAP! That cat jumped out of that tree and fell at least 50 ft!

I seen a bobcat while deer hunting put the stalk on a squirrel. The squirrel ran up the tree and so did the bobcat after it The squirrel won and the bobcat climbed down the tree probably feeling embarrassed as the squirrel was now scolding em chattering away lol

I would think winter would be a comparitively bountiful time for most predators. At least around here, there is no shortage of winter killed deer.

Here in the East squirrels are a main prey for Bobcats. I fact last Bobcat I killed was chasing a squirrel around a tree. However, in my neck of the woods Bobcats really like Rabbits and fortunately we have a ton of them and where there are rabbits their will be cats. Also found a hairball last year with a bunch of small bones, bird I think. Funny part was it was right in front of my cubby.

I have observed a family of lynx hunting and catching red(Pine) squirrels

As well as they climb, I would guess bobcats hunt squirrels a lot. They probably mostly catch young and weak squirrels.

Never seen a bobcat catch a squirrel, but i have seen my mountain cur
catch 3 so far! I would be willing to bet a bobcat could do so and be
better at it.
