Do you really think China will institute something that will cause hardship for themselves ? China holds millions of dollars worth of US treasury bonds. If you think the dollar is on the verge of collapse ask your self this. If I was in Country XYZ and offered people either a US $100 bill or the equivalent bill in Yuan............which would they take ?

Of all the transactions that take place in a day the world over, the US dollar is used on one side of 89% of all transactions and amounts to almost 8 trillion dollars per day. That is a decline of 1% since 1989. That doesn't sound like imminent collapse to me.

As far as "they" swooping in with a digital currency to "save" us, The US Federal Reserve has no retail digital currency plan. It does have a wholesale program in the research stage.This will be used to settle cross-border transaction between banks. Not between individuals. It is call Project Cedar if I recall correctly.

The European Central Bank does have a fledgling program designed for the retail trade. That is Europe's problem to deal with.

It surprises me that so many are so eager to believe complete nonsense.

It is true that the dollar may someday lose reserve status and things certainly will get more expensive. But that day is still a long way off IMO. and in the opinion of thousands of investors worldwide who send their money to the US to be invested here.......in dollars. Why do you think mainland China tries so desperately to restrict capital leaving China ?

If you are concerned that oil will be traded in Yuan or Venezuelan Bolivars, remember that the Saudi and most of the middle east currencies are pegged to the dollar and when the US Fed makes a move on interest rates, those other central banks do the same in order to remain aligned with the US dollar

It may also come as a surprise to some to learn that the loans China is making across the world under their Belt & Road Initiative, are being made in dollars. Not Yuan. I wonder why that is ?
