You must mean IDIOTS from the CITIES of NY and NJ. I live out in the country in NY state and love our great outdoors and our fantastic hunting, fishing and trapping. Our state has sucked politically my whole life. I'll stay on the farm and out of the city. You can have Florida. Do they have much trapping in Florida? I don't see much posted about Florida trapping

Marty my point being if you look at the whole country every darn county is red except where the population centers are at and also a prime example of a republic versus a democracy the USA is a constitutional representative republic but the states are ran as democracies that's why there is mob rule in Illinois, NY,NJ etc . Marty I respect what you say and I am not picking a fight if I was I would knock on a persons door because that's the kind of man I always have been ... Jon Just stay outta the cities. Nothing there for us to get excited about anyway. Just like the media, why feed into their madness? Peace can still be found , likely with separation from the cities and media. Most rural areas in blue states still have great republican senators and house representatives that will listen and fight for them. Stay on top of introduced bills and keep informed, fight them and mostly they get shut down. Like I said before, my daily activities have not been effected. Wake up put my boots on and go do what I enjoy. Leaving is giving in, in my opinion. Wouldn’t make great grandad too happy would it?

“The Eastern Shore is not being utilized”, land is about to be taxed out from under people. That land that farmers are renting to farm is about to go up and with democrats holding all the votes, yes it’s gonna happen.
I agree there is nothing in the city for us. The city is about to come to us though.

Not moving, live in the best kept secret in the northeast. But I fear the word is out, recreational properties here are selling like hot cakes, all downstaters and out of staters buying recreational land here. Plus the Amish are moving in this area by the dozens. County is controlled by the Republicans, low population density, low crime rate, snow and black flies help keep undesirable elements away. No hurricanes, tornados, forest fires ,earthquakes, floods, railroads(derailments). I own 800 acres of timberlands, a home, hunting lodge and a camp, property taxes on all of that are under $7000/year. Most people that criticize NY State know little if anything about the state outside of NYC. Yeah, NY State politicians suck, but northern NY still a great place to live.

A woman from Washington works at the shop I work for. She considers herself to be conservative. As I have gotten to know her, I've found out she doesn't like trapping, horse racing, low amount of dollars for food stamps here, and other government assistance that you could receive in Washington. That might be a west coast conservative but a far cry from what's considered conservative down here in dixie.

I am - in a blue state
- "forced" to move due to development
- able to go anywhere
Some things you can't just run away from. Even the reddest states could be one election away from communism. The best I can hope for is a nice rural property within a few hours of where I have built a life.

Problem is....you move, and what you moved away from ends up following you, maybe not immediately but "They're" coming.
I sent ,(encouraged), both kids to Texas, but even Texas is getting over run, you can only hide so long, The Leftists have reached critical mass, the only thing that will change things is a natural disaster, economy collapse, or major war. When the smoke clears we'll see how it worked out....

If you live in a rural area in a blue state, the problem is you’re still subject to the wacko laws and rules of the blue state they impose on you. And we are all subject to wacko stuff coming out of DC.

Ohio is a red state, but the last two governors have been rhinos . College towns are being run by liberal professors , and the student body is mostly socialist . All the college towns are turning into communist cults. Oberlin College to pay $36.59M to bakery owners who claim they were falsely accused of racism https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/09/us/oberlin-college-bakery-lawsuit-payment-reaj/index.htmlOne student, Jonathan Aladin, was accused of attempted robbery for allegedly trying to “steal wine or otherwise illegally obtain wine” from the bakery, according to the defamation lawsuit. He would eventually confess in a written statement to trying to buy alcohol illegally.
