Yesterday we were driving home and saw an intact muskrat that had been hit, lying just off the highway. I had to go back to town to pick up a skunk in a cage trap, so I planned on picking up the 'rat on the next trip coming back, but it didn't go exactly as planned. With 'rats worth little to nothing, I didn't think there was any hurry in grabbing him, but I was wrong. While heading back into town we saw the 'rat, still in the same place as expected. No sooner did we set eyes on him that we saw a big shadow cross in front of the truck, a bald eagle that swooped down and snatched the 'rat right in front of us. The timing was perfect and unbelievable. Oh well.

Lol. I guess nature will clean up what we don’t get to first!

It’s good to see the eagles back. 20-15 years ago I’d only hear stories of them. 15-10 I’d see one occasionally. Last 10 it’s been a fairly frequent occurrence. The lakes seem a lot cleaner too since most outboards stopped pouring 2 stroke love into them! I remember the black ring of scum they’d collect.
