Those new stents must be good ones because I was sitting at the kitchen table when this one hit last night and it didn't give me a heart attack

I had lightning hit a tree along the road years ago when I was driving home. Made me jump in my truck like a grenade just went off my me. Flash, boom then splintered wood hit my truck like right now. That one gave me the chills. When I looked behind me in the rearview mirror, I saw the tree fall on the road just seconds after it hit the tree. Close one.

I was sitting under a big oak in a pasture turkey hunting in a drizzle. Lightning hit the next oak down, 75 yards away. I was peppered with wood bits. Deaf for a few minutes and had a splitting headache. I quit hunting for the day.

Unbelievable how powerful that stuff is.

People don't know how loud that is until it happens to them.

A good friend next door had her champion Spanish Arabian endurance racers in a paddock , at their vacation cabin, several years ago. She liked to trailer them over and I would ride with her in the mountains on training runs, for miles each day. There is a hill on the road that has metal power poles , close to that cabin . A huge storm passed over and a bolt hit one of the towers on that hill. It was if a bomb hit at almost ground 0.

One of her horses , a younger one in training, panicked , broke out of the paddock, and ran full speed into their porch, skidding into the side of their cabin. He broke and tore the whole shoulder muscle structure on one side . He was so in right brain panic he didn't even see where he was going. It took my friend over half an hour to lead him crabbing baby steps back to the paddock. At 0300 the vet drove out from an hour away, and had to put her horse down. His injuries were too great. The other horse, the one I always rode, was fine. It was a terrible time.

I never like lightning that close. Stay safe, Hoss.

I know of two people personally who have been hit by lightning while in a boat. In one case he was holding a fishing rod which got hit and killed him instantly. In another case, lightning hit the outboard and he had his hand on the tiller. It blew his feet off. He lived for a few minutes. Boat was completely disabled even the trolling motor wouldn't work. Fortunately his partner was able to flag down another boat a while later.

When I am in a boat and I see a storm coming I go to shore immediately. I don't take any chances.

My oldest daughter was looking out the kitchen window. When lighting struck the back field. And two cows fell over! It didn’t hit the cows directly. But, it sure killed them!

In Charleston two ,men werekilles about 5 years ago. They nwere playing Golf and were struck by lightning. I always wondered why you would walk around with Metal clubs during a thunderstorm.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Randall I hate to see 2 families loose those fellas but that is what you call a Darwin award.

GF- when I was old enough to drive a tractor on the shoulder of the road, I found 4 dead cows in a quarter mile of 5 strand fence. One got struck and the other 3 were also sticking their heads through the same wire and it got them too. I been "Blevins scared" of lightning ever since then,

Riding above treeline (which there is a lot of) in a side by side and lightning sneaking up and no where to hide creates the pucker factor for me!

Yeah running equipment is the worst place to be when a storm comes up on ya. You never hear it until BOOM! One hits with in a stones throw and now its too late to get gone

There doesn’t need to be a storm for lightning it can happen with clear skies! Rubber tires on a side by side DOESN’T keep you from getting fried either.
